Sixth Form Life

Student Leadership:  Head Students:

Isabel Hemmings - Life at Woodrush Sixth Form WSF has been fun and interactive, as well as being supported in our A- Level journey. I have loved every minute so far, the lessons are engaging, and the timetable is adapted to each individual, guided by ourselves, in order to balance our independent study time, group study sessions and wellbeing periods.WSF provides plenty of opportunities for everybody to get involved with such as bake sales, raffles, tree planting,, sports games and even pieing teachers (all for charity of course) We have had lots of opportunities to visit universities, attend career events, learn about apprenticeships and much more! I feel so lucky to be part of such a supportive and friendly community. I would recommend it to everyone.

Annie Venters - Woodrush High School has been a brilliant experience, offering a huge variety of opportunities to help me progress both academically and professionally. The teachers show endless support and really guide me to be the best I can.  Since joining, I've grown in confidence and made the most of all the opportunities presented to me: involvement with the Senior Leadership Team and people around the school have equipped me with many skills to develop professionally and provide me with confidence to move forward in life.  The  experiences at Woodrush go much further than just academics and really work to enrich us as individuals.

Emily Cooksey - During my time at Woodrush Sixth Form WSF, I have experienced many great opportunities, including chances to explore personal interests, such as a trip to Auschwitz Concentration Camp where I gained an in depth knowledge that inspired my passion for the holocaust. Not only that, but the New York trip enabled me to gain confidence and explore an amazing city.  Lastly, the support you receive here at WSF is unmatched, as all my teachers make time for any queries and concerns I may have. This has been particularly important during Year 13, where I have been able to receive extra support with revision, and teachers have made time for one to one revision with me during free periods.

The Sixth Form experience . . .

The Woodrush Sixth Form experience is not just about what happens in the classroom. We want to make sure that every student has a range of enrichment and personal development activities that they can participate in around the school and in the wider community.

Some of these opportunities include:

  • A bespoke programme of additional academic enrichment qualifications - EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) and ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network).
  • Membership of the Gym and classes at Woodrush Community Hub at reduced rates.
  • Working as a mentor for children lower down the school.
  • Organising and supporting fundraising events for charities like ‘Children in Need’ and ‘Macmillan Cancer Support’.
  • Attending University organised courses and open days.
  • Completing work experience placements linked to possible career pathways.
  • Numerous social outings (theatre, cinema, outdoor activity centres – etc).
  • Going on a range of school trips and residentials (including trips to the Houses of Parliament, the Gadget Show, the Clothes Show, a sightseeing tour of London and the biannual trip to New York – etc.)
