Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium – Information for Parents

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is extra funding given to schools by the government to help support children who may be disadvantaged. The funding is used by schools to provide additional support that helps pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially.

The money is paid directly to the school and is used to benefit eligible pupils through things like extra learning support, wellbeing programmes, resources, and enrichment activities.

Who is Eligible?

Your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium if any of the following apply:

  • They are entitled to Free School Meals (FSM) now or have been at any point in the last six years
  • They are or have been looked after by the local authority (for example, in foster care)
  • They have been adopted from care or are under a special guardianship or child arrangements order
  • One or both parents are currently serving in the armed forces (Service Pupil Premium)

Eligibility is based on household circumstances, not academic ability.

How Do I Apply?

Applying is simple and confidential. Just complete the free school meals application form on the link below:

  1. Check if you may be eligible (usually based on benefits such as Universal Credit)
  2. Complete the free school meals application form HERE
  3. The school will confirm eligibility once it has been approved

If you are unsure how to apply, the school office will be happy to help you.

Why Should I Apply?

Even if your child does not receive free school meals at school, registering is still very important.

By applying:

  • Your child’s school receives additional funding to support learning and wellbeing
  • Your child may benefit from extra support, resources, or activities
  • You help the school better support all pupils
  • Your information is kept confidential

There is no cost, no obligation, and it will not affect other benefits.
