Woodrush High School

An Academy for Students Aged 11-18

Excellence Through Endeavour

At Woodrush we pride ourselves on providing students with a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum. We believe that, as they move through the school, they need to be able to select courses that simulate their interest, support their future aspirations and give them strong foundations for their future education and career choices.

In years 7 and 8 students are mainly taught in ability bands and take the following courses; Art, Computer Science, Design Technology, Drama, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Religious Education, Science and Spanish. At the end of Year 8 students are supported in selecting the appropriate pathways for their KS4 studies.

For our most able students there is the opportunity to study Mandarin as their Modern Foreign Language. We are one of only 67 schools in the country to run the Mandarin Excellence Programme  (A programme developed by University College London and the Institute of Education).

In Year 9, 10 and 11 all students study a core curriculum of English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, a standalone ICT employability skills qualification and either History or Geography. Currently a range of GCSE and vocational courses are also offered including: French, Business Studies, Sociology, Art and Design, Food and Nutrition, Product Design,
