Excellence Through Endeavour

Emotional Health & Well-being

At Woodrush Sixth Form one of our main priorities is the emotional health and wellbeing of our students. We recognise that embarking on the journey of completing A-Levels is a very challenging time in students’ lives. We also feel that in order for all students to succeed and achieve their potential it is important that they are happy and confident whilst in Sixth Form.

In order to ensure the needs of all students are met, we offer students one-on-one meetings with the Sixth Form team once every half term and personalise their programmes of study as much as possible to ensure that they have the best possible chance to reach their chosen destinations.

We offer a number of different enrichment opportunities these include a range of trips such as go karting and laser tag day, Winter Wonderland, theatre and New York to name a few. We also run a enrichment programme during which time we develop students’ knowledge and skills needed to tackle society and life after Sixth Form. We will look at topics such as mental health, positive mind-set, finance and budgeting, time-management, organisation, resilience etc. These sessions will be run by a mixture of Woodrush staff and external guests and speakers.

As part of the Sixth Form team we have two progress leaders who are non-teaching members of staff that will support students with anything at all. This support ranges from bespoke weekly or daily meeting if required, given students strategies to handle with stress, supporting students manage their time and ensure that they maintain communication with subject teachers.

The Woodrush Sixth Form team is not just staff and students but also parents/carers we believe that in order to provide students with the best support and chance to succeed parents/carers are integral to this. Therefore we maintain good contact with parents and will inform and involve them with all aspects of their child's Sixth Form journey.

At Woodrush Sixth Form we are often praised for the personalised pastoral support in place for students and the positive work that we do towards maintaining positive emotional health and wellbeing.
