“We, like you, want you to be very successful
and get the best start in life”

This is a very exciting time for Woodrush and its Sixth Form. In our last two inspections we were graded Outstanding by Ofsted. Our academic results, facilities and wider support for the Sixth Form have never been better, with the performance of our students better than local colleges and sixth forms. All of our learners, over the last three years, have benefitted from our smaller class sizes and either attained their choice of university or have gone directly into apprenticeships or employment. Our students continue to gain places at top universities across the country including Oxford, Durham, Warwick, Birmingham and Bristol, to name but a few. In addition to our students’ academic results, the number and variety of courses has never been better and we are delighted to be able to offer a range of courses to suit all our students.

Our Sixth Form provides a lively, stimulating and challenging learning environment that mixes a high quality of teaching with the benefits of independence and responsibility our sixth form students have. We continue to invest heavily in our Sixth Form in terms of new resources, new equipment and even better learning and recreational facilities. From January 2016 our sixth form facility doubled in size with increased private study facilities as a result of the completion of our new community Hub.

As well as excellent learning opportunities, we also make sure that we offer our students an extensive range of enrichment opportunities and employability experiences; these include social events, work experience, peer mentoring and voluntary work. Woodrush is a dynamic and exciting place to be, and this is certainly the view of our current Sixth Formers, some of whom are featured in this prospectus or will be speaking to you at the Sixth Form Open Evening.

For those of you thinking of returning to Woodrush, we have enjoyed working with you in the main school and we hope to continue working with you in your new adult role as a Sixth Former at Woodrush. We also warmly welcome applications from students who have attended other secondary schools. We are a very open and friendly school and I am sure we are the most suitable place for you now that you are embarking on this next phase of your education.

We believe that continuing your education with us, or by joining us if you are from another school, will ensure that you get the very best Sixth Form education. We, like you, want you to be very successful and get the best start in life and we look forward to your application to Woodrush.
