Welcome to Woodrush Sixth Form
We believe that continuing your education with us, or by joining us if you are from another school, will ensure that you get the very best Sixth Form education.
Our Sixth Form provides a lively, stimulating and challenging learning environment that mixes a high quality of teaching with the benefits of independence and responsibility. We continue to invest heavily in our Sixth Form in terms of new resources, new equipment and even better learning and recreational facilities.
The step up from GCSE to A Level is one of the biggest any student will take during their academic studies. Students are expected to operate with a high level of independence and need help to develop the necessary study skills and depth of thought that will enable them to be lifelong learners to prepare them for the wider world. For this reason, the decision about where they choose to undertake their Sixth Form studies is incredibly important. Here at Woodrush, we have a track record of preparing students to take up places at some of the best universities in the country, including, Oxford, Birmingham, Nottingham and Leeds as well as supporting others in attaining places on prestigious apprenticeship courses.
As well as excellent learning opportunities, we also make sure that we offer our students an extensive range of enrichment opportunities and employability experiences; these include social events, work experience, peer mentoring and voluntary work. Woodrush is a dynamic and exciting place to be, and this is certainly the view of our current Sixth Formers, some of whom are featured in our prospectus or will be speaking to you at the Sixth Form Open Evening.
We are a very open and friendly school and I am sure we are the most suitable place for you now that you are embarking on this next phase of your education.
For those of you thinking of returning to Woodrush, we have enjoyed working with you in the `main school’ and we hope to continue working with you in your new young adult role as a Sixth Former at Woodrush. We also warmly welcome applications from students who have attended other secondary schools and each year, we are delighted to gain new students. Indeed, our Head Boy was a new student to our sixth form in Year 12- testimony to how well external students settle with us and feel part of the sixth form community.
We want you to get the best out of the next two years- to be successful- to learn, to make life-long friends, to grow as a person and, ultimately, to get the very best start in life. Woodrush Sixth Form offers you this opportunity- it’s yours to take!
We look forward to your application to Woodrush Sixth Form
